Salary: £13281.12 per annum, Scale 2 Point 3 NJC PayScale

Fox Primary School are seeking two kitchen assistants to work in our busy school kitchen. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to work flexibly and as part of a team. Punctuality, reliability and capacity for hard work are essential. Previous experience of working in a school kitchen is desirable but not essential.

Role and responsibilities:

• Preparing the dining room and kitchen for the serving of meals in accordance with good practice;
• Supporting the team in the day to day running of the kitchen in compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements;
• Ensuring that the dining room is cleared during service and tidying up undertaken;
• Cleaning the kitchen, surrounding areas and equipment to ensure the kitchen cleanliness is maintained at a high level;

• Regularly check kitchen equipment e.g. mixers, fryer, utensils, work surfaces are in accordance with specified procedures to ensure all equipment is hygienic and in safe working order and complies with relevant regulations;
• Maintain a safe working environment;
• Attend training courses as required including online training;
• Comply with Health & Safety, Fire Regulations and other relevant School and Federation policies;
• Cooking and/or Food Preparation or equivalent qualifications desirable but not essential;
• Previous experience of working in a busy kitchen or catering environment;
• Flexibility to work in one of our federation schools when required by the team

Experience: be able to show evidence of:

• Contribute to day-to-day smooth running of the kitchen;
• Have the ability to work in a team, and escalate problems as necessary;
• Ability to work to tight deadlines;
• Good planning and organisational skills;
• Ability to organise own work load;
• Ability to prioritise work and deliver on time;

Health and Safety:

• Understand and be able to apply Health and Safety procedures relevant to the job such as:
Manual handling,
Safe use of machinery and/or equipment,
First Aid and Hygiene Practice

About us

Fox Federation was created in September 2015 with the merging of the Leadership and Governance of two schools, Fox in Notting Hill and Ashburnham in Chelsea. In 2019 the Federation was expanded to include Avonmore Primary in West Kensington.

The Federation allows for sharing of expertise, training, recruitment and experience between the three schools to the benefit of children in all three schools, as well as teachers and the wider community. The schools in the Federation have gone from strength to strength.
