Level 6 Reading project
Fox school is involved in a new local authority initiative promoting level 6 readers in primary schools. We have been identified because of the high number of level 5 readers. Currently children cannot be assessed above level 5. However this project will provide resources and assessment procedures enabling us to assess children up to level 6.

Anti Bullying Week
This week children have taken part in a number of assemblies and class based activities, looking at what bullying is, different forms of bullying and how to deal with bullying and bullies. Please take time to have a look at some of the children’s anti bullying posters on the two television screens.

Music Week – volunteers needed
The school has timetabled music week for the week of the 25th January. During this week we want the children to have as much exposure to different types of music as possible. We have already organised drumming workshops, visits to the Royal College Music etc. However, if any parents or carers are able to offer a musical experience/workshop please can they contact Mr Lydon.
On the Friday 29th January we will be holding a concert (for parents) in the school hall. Some Fox staff are keen to from a band and play a few pieces. I think it would be great if the parents were able to co-ordinate a band and also play a few numbers. Again if any parents are interested in this can they please contact Mr Lydon.

Dr Bike It breakfast
On Monday morning, children from Year 5 and 6 are invited to have breakfast with Felix from Bike It. This is an organisation Fox is currently working with, with the aim of increasing the number of children and staff cycling to school. As well as providing breakfast for those children who cycle, Felix will be checking over and fixing children’s bikes.

House Event Week
Next week all children from Fox will be involved in a number of House events. Please can you ensure that your child has their House T- shirt. If this has been misplaced can you purchase another one from the school office.
