Fox Eco

A historical, environmental commitment was reached on 1st September, 2009 when thousands of people gathered at the Tate Modern in London to sign up to 10:10 - a project aimed at cutting the UK’s carbon emission by 10% in 2010. Fox School was represented by Mr Cotter.

In signing up to 10:10, Fox School has made a commitment to reduce Fox School’s carbon footprint by 10% by October, 2010. Our Eco Committee have already identified possible ways to help achieve this target. These include: only having lights on when absolutely necessary and re-using or re-cycling all display paper. Our Eco Committee will be measuring and tracking our energy usage over the coming year.

All members of Fox staff will be receiving training in how to measure their carbon footprint and will use the results of this as a basis for writing their own pledges. We will also be asking children to make pledges and these will be displayed on our School Eco web link.

We are very keen to ensure that 10:10 project involves the wider Fox community and will be sending details of Eco workshops that the school will be offering to parents and carers. These workshops will cover how to measure your carbon footprint and offer practical advice on how to reduce it.

The website for 10:10 is http://www.1010uk.org/organisation.

Kind regards

The Eco Committee
