The Eco-Committee have been working extremely hard recently to show off everything that we do at Fox to be kind to the environment! We are going for the Green Flag Award and have been making sure that we are doing everything that we can to assess and monitor what we do to: use less energy, to waste less, to keep the school clean, to recycle and to be healthy! It is a chance for us to show off our school!

Compost: Three years worth of potato peelings, carrot peelings and egg shells etc have resulted in the most superb, clean, smell free compost in the Fox composter. Children have been raking out the compost and applying to the growing beds in the allotment. The wormery has also produced some very fine soil which will be used for potting. See video below.
Fox School is a great school. It is not just great for it’s learning, but for it’s wonderful Eco System.
Fox School has a fantastic Eco Committee which monitors the school to check that it is being efficient. The Eco Committee shares certain jobs, e.g. reading the energy meters, monitoring litter, plant sales and doing energy audits and reviews.
Our target is to receive a Green Flag award. Towards this, members of the Eco team have been grading litter each week. We have mainly been graded a ‘B’, so we are now working towards an A. The grades work like an exam: A is the best and D is the worst. We have started up a competition to reduce the amount of litter around the school. This competition will be introduced in the beginning of the Summer Term.
We are now working towards introducing Eco Cubs, to encourage children from the lower classes to be eco too. We will be regularly changing the Eco Cubs so that everyone will have a chance to join in. The Eco Cubs will be given little jobs, which at the end of the day, will make a big difference!
